Annular Solar Eclipse 2012
Dad's telescope and lens came in handy while viewing and photographing the solar eclipse. There was an optimal viewing location in the mountains near Kanarraville, UT. New friends and an amazing celestial show made this a wonderful day. Pretty spectacular.
Girls Trip to Las Vegas
For the past 6 or 7 years all my sisters and sisters-in-law have been getting together for a fun filled weekend away from the typical mom duties! This year was great as usual. Lexie has been joining us since she became "old enough", whenever that was? Anyway, we enjoyed food, laughing, pool time, shopping and just being together. I'm blessed with the most amazing daughter, two wonderful sisters and five beautiful and talented sisters-in-law! Amazing women, one and all.
Regional Track 2012
Tayler throwing the shot put, Jacob ran several events. (How bad is that, I can't remember!) The WPHS team enjoyed a great day in Moapa and went on to Reno for State the following weekend. Jacob has been running all summer! He's determined to be a track star during high school. I'm sure he will.
Summer 2012
Occasionally I travel to Las Vegas for work related meetings. These pics were taken on one such trip in June. Nevada is an unusual and beautiful state. I find if I keep my eyes open I see some pretty amazing things. A mail box in an ideal location, for example. Or, a UFO! Maybe they were coming to restock the jerky store? Anyway, I love the scenery and people!
Summer 2012
Top to bottom...Provo Half Marathon with Yosha, Alison, and Carrie. My 5th half marathon on May 5th! Pretty amazing to do it a little over a year after being quite broken. It was a beautiful run down Provo Canyon and along the mountain line to Center Street.
Lexie and I entered a photo contest...creative pic involving Cactus-Jack's cd, A Carpenter's Hymns. We posed at Deseret Book. I'll never hear the end of it from Lexie as I dropped her on her head after the picture was taken. She seems to be fine, her usually happy, crazy self.
Grandma Ehlert turned 90! Hard to believe. Grandpa is 94! They are my hero's! There was a lovely celebration in her honor at Janice's house. I am blessed to be part of an AMAZING family!!

Great Basin Astronomy Festival
The Great Basing Astronomy Festival was wonderful. I chose to go on Friday evening for a couple reasons. First, the keynote speaker, Dr. Paul Bogart would be speaking about the disappearing dark and second, in Baker there was an ice-cream social! The ice-cream was amazing (as was a scrumptious Philly-steak sandwich) and the speaker and star gazing were quite uplifting. Several amateur astronomers from the Salt Lake Astrological Society were there with some VERY LARGE telescopes. I saw glorious Saturn with her rings and moons, globular clusters, ring nebula, and with my binoculars a cheery coat-hanger constellation just off the beak of Cygnus the Swan. What a treat to live in the darkness where these celestial bodies can be seen! On my calendar for next year - for sure!!
